THIERRY DAGUES > Rowing a Boat across the Atlantic

> The Challenge

A stamina overdose and waves galore . . .

By the end of 2004, Thierry Dagues will be leaving the Canary Islands to reach the West Indies, 5400 km away. The rout has been designed to take advantage of the south-westerly marine currents and the Trade winds between the Canary Islands and the West Indies :

Departure : Canary Islands

Arrival : The West Indies

Distance : 2900 Miles
(+/- 5400 km)

Length : estimated 60 days

The average speed may vary from 50 to 130 km/day and the estimated length of the challenge is 60 days, both values, depending not only on his rowing skills but also on the unpredictable weather conditions.
